I thought I would start with an introduction to myself, my work and this on-line journal/blog….
I have just recently finished my MA in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art It was quite a steep learning curve as I had been out of the education environment for a few years and like anything if you don’t practice it every day you forget very easily. It was an amazing experience and the opportunity to learn and develop your practice was challenging and exciting. You can see some images of my final show here. Upon completing my MA I felt a bit lost, after focusing all my energy physically, emotionally and intellectually into my work it was quite a shock to find myself in the real world once more. Hindsight is the most wonderful thing, always have a plan and be ready for the next thing……
The idea to do my PhD is not a new one, I had thought of it as a possibility whilst studying but not really given it full consideration, whilst still wandering around in the vast expanse of life the more I thought about it the more I came to the conclusion that it is what I want to do. I still have many questions that I need to answer before I embark on the next chapter, but for now this is the plan.
I am in the process of setting up some short talks and lectures in order to gain experience, starting an A level in Philosophy to keep my brain active and to harness my research and documentation skills, doing voluntary work for Solent Mind at their Wellbeing centre in Winchester, attending seminars and lectures across London, currently Gender and Labour at the Tate Modern and organising one or two small exhibitions towards the end of this year.
The aim of this blog is to document my progress and processes throughout. I hope you will find some articles of interest and I look forward to hearing your comments and sharing my thoughts and ideas with you.
