The final instillation is about, time passing, isolation, decay, past, present and future. I feel the images have a feeling of desolate landscapes and I wanted to bring this out in to the open, as a reality.
The inclusion of the ghostly children’s faces hanging on the fabric gives echoes of childhood and loss. There is sadness to the work that passes from the children into the landscapes.
All of the materials used are connected within the landscape images. I chose to work with these materials for their connection to the past, the stories and memories held within the objects and the traces of time left upon the surface. The faces suggest a human contact that is now lost. I like to work with old abandoned, second hand and reclaimed objects. It gives new life to the past, brings it into the present and starts a new future.
